other activities
but wait, there’s more!
If you are lucky enough to get one or two light wind days then you will be able to go out snorkelling, SCUBA Diving, Kayaking or SUPing!
Nananu-i-ra is not just stunning for the wind, there really is something for everyone. Even in you are not a water baby, you can venture around the island’s many hikes to hill top view points, chill out in the beach front hammocks, learn how to husk a coconut or visit the local market in Rakiraki.
Snorkelling & Scuba diving
___
If there is no wind on a day during your stay, then your private boat will take you to one of the many snorkelling spots around the island, at no extra cost. There are turtles, reef sharks, giant trevally, barracuda, moray eels, eagle rays and huge schools of reef fish that reside on the reef and you have a good chance of seeing them around the shallow reefs.
If you are into SCUBA diving, this is one of the best places to dive in the South Pacific! We can arrange for a local dive company to take you diving for the day at an extra cost ~$350FJ for a 2 tank dive.
kayaking and sup
___
There are both Kayaks and SUP’s at the lodge for our guests to use free of charge during their stay. This is great activity for non-foiling/kiting group members as they can find calm waters on the leeward side of the island, even when the wind is howling. On light wind days the lodge beach front is a perfect place to kayak and SUP.
Our guests also have unlimited access to SUP, Kayak and Snorkelling gear included in their stay.
Local Markets
___
The closest village, Rakiraki, is just 15mins from Ellington Wharf. Here you can find an abundance of local fruit, veges and handy crafts.
There is also a number of restaurants, pharmacies and stores for almost any supplies that you could need.
hiking and walks
___
Nananu-i-Ra and Nananu-i-Cake both have amazing walking tracks to explore. With approximately 13 kms to circumnavigate the island, there are many hidden spots to explore! The best thing is that after your hike you can jump into the clear waters to cool off and relax in the hammock, sipping a cold coconut!
